Can Coffee Reduce The Risk Of Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition
in which the body does not generate or utilize insulin adequately. Insulin is a
hormone that helps the body convert sugar, carbs, and other
carbohydrates into energy.
Although both heredity
and environmental variables such as obesity and lack of exercise appear
to play a role in diabetes, the exact etiology remains unknown.
Coffee reduces risk of diabetes
According to statistics,
coffee drinkers are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes. It's
unclear whether the preventive properties of coffee are due to caffeine
or another element.
The investigators wanted
to investigate if there was a link between drinking coffee and green, black,
and oolong tea and developing diabetes. Participants answered an extensive
questionnaire regarding their health, lifestyle behaviors, and coffee and tea
consumption. At the end of the 5-year follow-up period, the questionnaire was
redone.
Drink green tea and coffee
After controlling
for other variables, researchers discovered that the more green tea and coffee people
consumed, the less likely they were to develop diabetes. People who consumed
six cups or more of green tea or three cups or more of coffee per day had a
one-third lower risk of developing diabetes.
In women, the correlation
was stronger than in men. With black or oolong tea, there was no discernible
pattern. (For further information, see Diabetes Symptoms)
Vitamin B12 and calcium may help women avoid developing type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes
might well be linked to a deficiency in vitamin D and calcium. The Nurses'
Health Study enrolled more than 80,000 women. 4,800 women developed type 2
diabetes over a period of 20 years.
According to the study,
a combined intake of more than 1,200 milligrams of calcium and more than
800 units of vitamin D was associated with a 33% lower risk of type 2 diabetes
when compared to women who consumed much lower amounts of calcium and vitamin
D.The findings demonstrate that increasing vitamin D and calcium intake reduces
the risk of type 2 diabetes in women.
Increase diabetes level in the blood
Hyperglycemia, or high
blood glucose levels, is a symptom of diabetes (blood sugar). Our
bodies work best when there is a particular amount of sugar in our bloodstream.
We usually feel bad if the amount of glucose in our blood is too high or too
low.
Hyperglycemia is a condition in which the blood amount of glucose is greater than the concentration. The most frequent endocrine condition is diabetes.
