Coffee Health New Antioxidant On The Block

Plant-based foods have introduced a new antioxidant to the mix. Green coffee extract was discovered to have a stronger antioxidant impact than well-known antioxidants such as green tea and grape seed extract.


A molecule called chlorogenic acid is the active ingredient in coffee that is responsible for its numerous health benefits. It counteracts reactive oxygen species and combats hydroxyl radicals, both of which can cause cellular degeneration if not addressed.


Chlorogenic acid also aids in metabolism regulation. Green coffee bean extract is twice as powerful at absorbing superoxide anion as green tea and grape seed extract.

Another benefit of using green coffee essence is whether it eliminates the detrimental consequences of coffee. The epicatechin acid is reported to promote metabolism by altering how carbohydrates are absorbed in the body. It also contains caffeic acids, which, like ordinary coffee, provide you with a jolt of energy.


Green coffee bean extract, unlike boiled coffee, does not contain cafestol, a diterpene. Cafestol, like its diterpene relative kahweol, raises levels of the "bad" cholesterol, LDL, to levels that may increase the risk of coronary heart disease by much more than 20% over a lifetime.

This was a population-based study, not a clinical trial, thus the results aren't conclusive. It does, however, provide some hopeful facts. When compared to individuals who drank less than one cup a day, those who drank more than two cups a day were half as likely to develop liver disease. The mechanism of this survival benefit is unknown to researchers.

Another of the health concerns with coffee is that it leaches calcium from the bones. However, at least in children, this effect has been proven to be exaggerated. Adults who consume a diet rich in calcium will be protected from the minor quantity of calcium lost as a result of coffee use.

As a result, the old adage that coffee stunts a child's growth is debunked. It was predicated on the fact that caffeine was linked to low bone mass in previous research since those studies were conducted on elderly people who drank a lot of coffee and ate low-calcium diets.
